These CD’s are a rich compilation of Italian voices set to original music produced by John Gentry Tennyson.
Canzoni Per Bambini, Volumes I & II are a collection of forty original children’s songs written by Dr. Katia Moltisanti Tennyson and John Gentry Tennyson. After years of testing and development in the classroom, Canzoni Per Bambini, Volumes I & II, are now available through this website and the offices of Centro Raccontami. In the first volume, children learn to sing the Italian alphabet, numbers, colors and the months of the year. In the second volume, children learn the Benvenuti! song, parts of the body, the alphabet in action, the five senses and much more. This project is sponsored in part by the Italian American Committee on Education (IACE).

Canzoni Per Bambini, Volume I "It's rare to hear a Children's CD that combines various acoustic instruments in arrangements that are clearly aimed at musicality as a priority to the light and accessible lyric/vocal that must appeal to the audience (adults and children alike). But, that's what the Italian CD, "Canzoni Per Bambini, Volume I" from Centro Raccontami does. Tuba, accordion, trumpet, clarinet, and other non-midi instruments support the track, "Buon Giorno!', as the ensemble says hello to listeners. It's important to note that the vocal approach is a breath of sincerity and freshness as no one in the entire production stands out for attention. The vocalists perform with authenticity in this Italian language collection, along with children's voices that are just as endearing. The CD teaches compositions that could have been written hundreds of years ago, but are completely original music that pay accurate tribute to a genre few have experienced. "La Metropolitana", is a fun tune - long baritone 'ahhhhh's’ accentuate some instrumental painting of a cityscape. Nice. "Il Cielo", is a memorable melody that ascends keys in an Italian version of the sound of 'Charge' in American baseball. "Coloriamo!', is our favorite tune on the CD. The intricate music is shadowed by the inventive and enjoyable banter between singers and children. Sesame Street tries to be this good. This is a Children's CD for the ages. A natural masterpiece of composition, arrangement, performance, and joy... And whether you understand Italian or not, it is sure to please music lovers of any age." -earBuzz.com Canzoni Per Bambini, Volume II "Children's music is often a strummed guitar and a happy, shiny lyrical delivery with the occasional musical indulgence of a wayward instrument. This is not the case with Centro Raccontami. In the latest edition, "Canzoni Per Bambini, Volume II", composers Katia and John Gentry Tennyson, respect the art of music and the goal of nurturing Italian children as they deliver a 20-track record that delights. Each song is an adventure musically with traditional and not-so-traditional instrumentation that supports the lyrical movement like a fine Broadway score. There is subtlety and there is abundance. The CD starts with "Benvenuti", which introduces the musical journey with accordion, church bells, and the vocal ensemble that delivers the melody and message without a hint of indulgence. Track 4, "Pinocchio", presents flute, muted trumpet, classical guitar, xylophone, and accordion in support of the gentle and playful vocal performance. Track 9, "Il Gusto", is a peppy and modulating vocal joy. Horns give the sound of car horns as a single violin follows the chord movement. Track 14, "Cenerentola", is a hide and seek movement that musically takes pages from Bach in its composition and vocal depth. Percussive tones pan left to right as the movement includes a brief and delectable trumpet fanfare. The most gentle and heart-warming piece is, "La Vista", as Centro Raccontami nurtures a beautiful piano solo with cello as Katia and John deliver the vocals with tenderness. Overall the record is worthy of the multitude of awards it is destined to receive. It's truly a musical work of art created with love." -earBuzz.com |
